UCLA Free Show

Phobiac - 1-14-2004 at 04:02 PM

Just got back from the free show at UCLA. A pretty awesome performance for Noon on a Wednesday. I have to say that I was impressed by the turn out as well. I really didn't think anyone would be there given it was at UCLA, on campus, and at noon. The place was pretty full though. Junior Senior was in the crowd too! Representing.

I post more once it get done with this crazy day. I did shoot video and will get it up on .net sometime in the near future.

I think it gave a good glimpse of what to expect for the Henry Fonda show. Which by the way I hear is not to be missed. So if you don't have your tickets....get them!!! And you should really bring some friends along or ask that girl out that you never had the balls to...now you have a great reason! It should turnout to be a "landmark" hometown show.

BatcaveBaby was there...were you?

colforbin6 - 1-14-2004 at 04:37 PM

I must inquire...SETLIST PLEASE!

draconian - 1-14-2004 at 04:38 PM

And I will reiterate...if you have a credit card, go to Ticketweb and buy advance tickets for Henry Fonda pronto!

Thanks for the tip, Phobiac,

batcave_baby - 1-14-2004 at 05:33 PM

I already have a few friends going, but I think I'll take this opportunity to ask that girl out.:P

ahhHHhmmm...maybe tomorrow...

Phobiac - 1-14-2004 at 09:29 PM

One of the best shows I've seen at NooN!

Hey, any of you Bruins that were there snapping shots it would be great if you could share your images, that is, if you're open to that. Just email them to phobiac@imarobot.net and we'll get them up in the Ima Robot Gallery.

Just rendered the video...there is this great scene where Alex and crew are rock'in it out and in the background, with all it's UCLA and academia glory, is something like the Cross Country team running, pausing...looking...then they continue running. I'll let the tape speak for itself.

TurtleEnterprises - 1-15-2004 at 12:14 AM

Sounds like I missed a good show! I was at work staring at the clock at noon, wishing I was there. :wow:

Poobs you gotta go! Don't miss out on all that fun!!! Just take your son with you-he'll enjoy a weekend getaway!! Go for it!!!! I wish I could go!!:(

poobs - 1-15-2004 at 08:19 AM

I know..But it costs so much money just to get gas on the way down! It's really a matter of priority at the moment..Eat, or see Ima Robot..If I didn't have my son, I wouldn't eat..But some doctor told me he has to, so I'm screwed.. And since I've moved up here, I've had to learn that, yeah, I'll most likely shed a few tears over not being able to go, but it isn't the end of the world.. (I have to stay positive..Otherwise, I'll be in a miserable funk for the rest of the week..:D )

Hey Pal, I asked you to go to the Sandy-Eggo show with me so I won't have to drive three hours and sleep in my car by myself. I believe I was DENIED, was I not? I'll be all on my own, and if I get "hassled" or anything, it will be your fault.

DangerousRobot - 1-15-2004 at 11:05 AM

Sorry man, Saturday's no good for me. Duty calls.
Booty Calls!
Maybe Frank can be you're body guard while you're down there...

poobs - 1-15-2004 at 11:19 AM

Ok..It's official..I'm not coming..I just got a frantic call from my drama queen of a mother and I'm not willing to give up the 400 miles of space I have between my serene life and that psycho nutjob..:o:lol:

batcave_baby - 1-15-2004 at 11:52 AM

Jerk-Alert! I totally forgot Frank lives in San Diego! What a fool - I'm staying at his house now. I just need to let him know! Oh, and I need directions, considering I've only driven through there once, and that was just on the way to one of them Tijuana pharmacies!

TurtleEnterprises - 1-15-2004 at 02:31 PM

Thanks for the reminder Batcave ... I need directions to the show tommorow. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Yeah, I hesitated to mention that! I've been crossing my body parts in hopes that he's not getting ill. Aside from the fact that I generally don't wish illness on anyone, cancellation of either of the shows coming up would be too taumatic for me to bear. I thought he did a good job of improvising many parts of the songs at UCLA, and it was quite entertaining to hear them done a little differently.

RiffRaff - 1-16-2004 at 11:21 AM

I hope they bust out with some new material at Henry Fonda.

Phobiac - 1-16-2004 at 12:39 PM

make sure you show up RiffRaff

n0lram - 1-17-2004 at 03:03 PM

can't wait for some videos phobiac, curious did you tape the whole show? i dind't get to watch them that day cause of tradition :)

Phobiac - 1-17-2004 at 04:58 PM

yeah, go the whole show...sound quality is a bit distorted. I'll run the audio through some Sonic Foundry filters and try to clear up the distort.
