bot in toronto

I just got back from the Toronto show. Unfortunately I couldn't stick around for Kill Hannah and The Sounds (fatigue and deafness were overtaking me), but Ima Robot rocked hard enough to make the show worthwhile.

I brought one of my Black Jettas records hoping to get the band to sign it. I was lucky enough to meet and talk to Justin, Alex, Tim, and Oli and get their signatures. It was great! Justin said he was just able to get one for himself. I also asked if they could play Love Is A Boombox. They considered it, but Justin said it wasn't really in their repertoire and they decided not to. :(

I didn't write down a setlist, but it didn't look all that different from the one drac posted for Minneapolis. There were lots of people with cameras, and I was kicking myself for not videoing it. Justin even had a camera and took some pictures of Alex and the crowd during the show.

The show itself was amazing. The band was really f-ing tight. It was so much fun...I don't know what else to say. The crowd was rather lackluster, but that's what Toronto crowds are like. They wouldn't move if you shot them in the ass. (Although, to be fair, I often fall into that category myself.) Despite this the energy level was really high, thanks to the intensity of the band.

Oh, and there was no merchandise! Apparently they flew across the border and couldn't bring any shirts or anything with them! I was totally bummed out. I guess I'll just have to order one from .com.

Anyway, I guess that's it!

Love,

Dave

There's two more here, Black Jettas 12" with all the signatures, no Joey Waronker, but Scott's.

We'll be giving them away sometime this year.

There was an article in some magazine, I think Spin, about the life of a rock roadie where he related a pretty funny story about being on C***** D***'s tour (sorry, Cap'n) and was able to get these green stuffed frog merch through customs but not the tiny "I heart Celine" t-shirt they were wearing. And she was PISSED.

yup, it was awesome.

i was gonna wait around and try to get scott to sign it, but then i thought he might not want to since he didn't play on it. i'd love to get joey's at some point, though. that would be sweet. or, now that i know scott doesn't mind, i could try to get both.
