I saw Franz Ferdinand last night in SF!

avw86 - 3-21-2004 at 10:23 AM

it was super fantastic! amazing! jolly good! the first band, the tyde, was very good. they have a very sunny californian-ish sound. this was franz ferdinand's setlist: cheating on you, tell her tonight, shopping for blood, jacqueline, van tango, take me out, love and destroy, truck stop (auf achse), dark of the matinee, come on home, 40 feet, michael, darts of pleasure, and this fire. i was dancing like a mad woman, the band was full of energy, everything was just perfect. we (me and isabella) were right at the stage, in the center. i asked the roadie for the setlists for both of us, so we got them afterwards, we stuck around to meet the band. we took pictures, got autographs, etc. they were all very nice we also met this lady who videotaped the show, and she's gonna send me a copy!

if you ever get the chance to see them...GO! simply amazing. i'll post pictures later, if i can.

:D:);):yes::P

Nice! You obviously had a great time! Where did they play?

avw86 - 3-21-2004 at 10:36 AM

They played at slim's! Hehehe...can't get enough of that place, I guess ;)

poobs - 3-21-2004 at 10:39 AM

Ha! Nice..Was the sound good? It sucked when the Bot played..

avw86 - 3-21-2004 at 10:46 AM

It was pretty good...better than when Ima Robot played there.

Anyway, I must be off now, I have swing dance practice! Talk to you later :)

poobs - 3-21-2004 at 10:50 AM

Ohhhh!! Have fun!

avw86 - 3-21-2004 at 12:46 PM

I'm back...only 4 people (including me) out of 12 showed up...how sad :(

I also drove to both Long's and Albertson's to try and get these pictures developed, but they both said that the one hour photo machines were broken! Bastards....

Cool to hear that you enjoyed them! I thought it was so amazing over here, too. And thanks for sharing the setlist, it's kind of similar to the Frankfurt setlist, as far as I remember - but the last song here was Darts Of Pleasure.
Would be interesting, what do you think, how many people were on the show?

avw86 - 3-21-2004 at 02:50 PM

You're welcome :)

Well, slim's is a very small venue, but the show was sold out. Maybe around 300 people? I have no clue, but the place seemed pretty packed. It was nice to see that the crowd was actually dancing :D

How many people were at the Frankfurt show?

inlimbo - 3-21-2004 at 06:46 PM

sounds great..i'll be at the june show
i hope there isnt' a long line too early though, because i really want front row to take pics..

avw86 - 3-21-2004 at 09:53 PM

Where are you gonna see them?

I got there around 6 or 6:30, and no one was in line (doors opened at 8). Most people started showing up closer to 7.

The earlier the better though, you can never be too sure what the crowd's going to be like.

Good luck :) :D

thanks to Noisemonster I checked out Franz Ferdinand.......Dang! they're super bad-ass.
I'm really liking love & destroy and Van Tango.....well alot of the songs. They were playing over here on the 20th i think....i couldn't make it

avw86 - 3-22-2004 at 01:06 AM

Good for you (and Noisemaster)! Love and Destroy and Van Tango are good :) I like 'em all, hehe ;)

Aw, too bad you couldn't make it. Hopefully they'll play more shows here soon. I'm glad I got to see them at their first show in SF :D

Yeah, slim's has a cool vibe. The sound's not the greatest, but I've had a kick-ass time both time's I've been there :D

Noisemonster - 3-22-2004 at 11:20 AM

I don't even know these songs... guess they are b-sides? My favorites are This Fire and Come On Home - but they're all good.
Here the sound was absolutely great! It was so clear, I couldn't believe it...

Noisemaster-yes, Van Tango and Love&Destroy are b-sides.

And inlimbo-that does seem far away ;) you'll make it...it's always nice to have something to look forward to for a while. When you're feeling down, just think, "I'm gonna see Franz Ferdinand!" :D
