Okay, I am just curious as to what people's opinions are on this subject. Use this spot to weigh in with your well-informed, carefully reasoned
conclusions about this Mtv tour.
My thoughts are that if Ima Robot inspire only a handful of kids in the admittedly more populist crowd to their sound, it's a win. Of course
it's not a great match, the bands on the tour, but that doesn't mean it's not a worthwhile endeavor.
On the other hand, if you wanted to direct market this band to almost ready-made fans, wouldn't you put them alongside someone else?
In the aggregate, will they pick up more fans by a) playing to the masses and reaching a small segment of the crowd or by b) playing to fewer people
overall, but a group more predisposed to their style?Neuwave - 3-31-2004 at 05:52 PM
If there are any females in the audience(which may be a stretch ), they'll
do just fine.

i dont think that tour, along with all other tours are coming down my way........

i tend to favor method B, taking into consideration that it's often more difficult to convert those few, if it is indeed only those few. If the
majority of the people in attendance are getting into the music, the mood tends to sweep through most of the crowd.
maybe that isn't giving the individuals in the audience enough credit, but there is past experience....
but that's not to say that this tour, or others like it, are not valuable. especially because sometimes you can be pleasantly surprised by the
reception the band getssevenblur - 3-31-2004 at 08:06 PM
Well, I have noticed that most of the people buying tix for the show come from either sororities or from frats, and those peep's taste in music
need ALL the help they can get. I think IMAR may help them expand their music horizons by exposing them to good listenable music that is not radio
friendly. I think it sucks that they could not play to an audience that actually cares about them and their specific genre of music, but they do need
exposure even it is going to be with the popular college crowds. But, thats just me.Smitty2Jones - 3-31-2004 at 11:38 PM
Why is "hooba" censored? This one's not coming to Kansas, so it doesn't really matter what I think :-p
But hooba stinks.Imaveedub - 3-31-2004 at 11:44 PM
