Okay, ordinarily I would see no point in posting a review as poor as this--if it were well-crafted and made a good argument, I'd have no issues with it...but this one is pretty crappy on many levels. Basically, it's here so that you can follow the link and give a low rating to the article.

So is this where "rock" music has evolved? Ima Robot sounds like they were probably named by a 9 year old kid with A.D.D., rocking out to poptronic grooves reminiscent of the late 70's to early 80's. Didn't Abba already happen? What is with the name, "Ima Robot?" If naming your band took less than 2 minutes, chances are you suck.

I have a few ideas here for new band names. Keep in mind that they are all names I gave to Marine recruiters when I was in high school, because back then I thought funny names were "bitchin"! I think we need a hip hop group named "Howie Feldersnatch". They should do some kind of rap fusion with a heavy metal group called "Jack Mehoff". They could even do a joint album together called "Jackin' the Snatch" I'll volunteer to do the cover art with my Etch a Sketch.

In all seriousness though, what does it take to get signed these days? These robot guys have a stupid gimmick and they don't play real instruments. Synthesisers haven't been cool since the Billy Joel's "Storm Front" album. I am all for giving props to your roots, but not if your roots suck! Kid Rock worshipping Bob Seger & The Rolling Stones is a bit predictable, because every musician seems to be contractually obligated to like at least one song from both of those artists, but please help me understand paying tribute to the late 70's.

With this same rationale, it is only going to be a matter of time until we have somebody paying homage to Vanilla Ice, who was actually paying homage to "Donovan," now that I think about it. Maybe everyone should stop worrying about making music that is reminiscent of some time period, and just work on being creative and innovative. Don't get me wrong, I am not talking about coming out with an album that incorporates Stomp with Yodeling or anything, but at least try to be a bit edgy. If you always live in the middle of the envelope, you only have so long until you're sealed up and mailed away!

And Ima gets all these references to 70's and 80's? no. All bands are influenced by the past music. I dear him to name a band that wasn't influenced by a band from the 70's or 80's.
Plus I don't even see how you can't see the originality of the band.

Seriously though, don't you think it might be funny if he was talking about a band that you hate?

Oh dude..People can have their opinions..That's fine..But it was just written really poorly..I don't think his sense of humor carried over into the review..And if it is a review, then review the music..Not the band name and their instruments.. :rolleyes:
