Studio Update

Justin - 12-13-2002 at 07:57 PM

Hi,

Just wanted to give a little hint of our progress in the studio this week. In short: It's going wonderfully!

Things sound great, we're shredding through songs, and running ahead of schedule. For the past week, we've been getting super high-energy, great sounding bass and drum performances on all the songs, since we're at a high-budget studio in the Valley with the perfect room for drums, exquisite vintage microphone collection, etc. At this studio, we're now moving into the realm of acoustic piano and acoustic guitar; again, things that require a high-end recording environment. After that, we'll shut down these sessions and take two weeks off over the holidays and resume working on January 2nd. At that point, we'll be at our producer's studio in Hollywood putting down all the guitars, keyboards, programming, and of course vocals. That should take us through the month of January, at which point the album would theoretically be ready for mixing.

We're all deeply tired, but exhilerated...the days here are long and we're essentially living here, but a break is right around the corner and the results should speak for themselves.

Thanks for the support. We're feeling optimistic!

Best,
Justin

Fantastic!

Wow--this is all happening so fast. And acoustic piano and guitar! Even for those of us familiar with Ima Robot's music, this will be a surprising album. Thanks for the update.

(acoustic!)

Acoustic! I can definitely see Let's Talk Turkey, Ages of Ruin, Dirty Life and Leo's Waltz taking advantage of some piano and acoustic guitar. I imagine something over the top like Axl Rose and November Rain.

Chip Off The Block would be perfect for an acoustic arrangement.

Can’t wait to hear some of it!

The only one I'm betting on is Leo's Waltz. The quieter parts of that are still 3x more mellow than the ones in Ages of Ruin...

wow, things seem to be moving really quickly. I presume the album should be out next Summer then?

I hear Apil would be the earliest and the rumor mill speaks of a European tour to support it. So you may be pretty lucky stewoo!
