LOS ANGELES, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- To celebrate the AE Jeans Will Rock You campaign and kickoff the back-to-school season, leading lifestyle retailer American Eagle Outfitters (AE) will host coast-to-coast events in three flagship cities: Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. Each event will feature performances by some of the hottest bands in music and marks the kickoff of an auction of customized guitars from musical giant Gibson Guitar by some of AE's target customers' favorite musicians.

On Tuesday, Aug. 24th, girl-rockers The Donnas and hip-hop producer DJ Danger Mouse will perform to a celebrity crowd at an undisclosed location in Hollywood. Two days later, New York City and Chicago will host simultaneous blowouts when The Walkmen team up with Danger Mouse in New York, while Ima Robot and DJ Green Lantern rock crowds in Chicago.

Customers can go to ae.com to bid on one-of-a-kind Gibson guitars customized by musical artists such as The Donnas, The Black Eyed Peas, N.E.R.D., Danger Mouse, The Mooney Suzuki, D12, The Darkness, and Ima Robot. Bidding on these rock-star guitars begins August 24th and ends September 2nd. All proceeds from the auction will go to the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.

"Music has always been an essential element of the AE brand," said Michael James Leedy, chief marketing officer, executive vice president of strategic planning and e-commerce. "These artists draw from every genre of current popular music and represent the diversity of our customers and their eclectic taste in music. We are proud to support VH1 Save the Music as its mission matches that of the AE Foundation, to embrace diversity and encourage youth development through its support of music programs for teens."

These exclusive events were inspired by the AE Jeans Will Rock You marketing campaign for which the Company secured rights to the lyrics and soundtrack of the 1977 classic Rock anthem "We Will Rock You" by Queen. In addition to having a presence in-store and online, the song serves as the backdrop for AE's back-to-school :30 second TV spot which is currently airing on MTV through September 13th, 2004.

EvilMotivator - 8-18-2004 at 09:36 AM

I'm not one for AE either, it's boring as hell. Damn, this show is on my birthday. If only I could get to Chicago.

WarholDisciple - 8-19-2004 at 01:36 PM

Chicago is the best city.. damn, I wish I lived there!

AE sucks. I really don't like all those prep high-class brand names. Why spend so much for regular jeans and tees when you can get them for half the price somewhere else? I don't like that style anyways..boring.

esqfool - 8-22-2004 at 12:32 AM

Does anybody have a clue where this is gonna be in Chicago, and I'm guessing its free?

That70sGirl - 9-14-2004 at 06:09 PM

I attended. It was private show by invite so it turned out, but my friends and I happened to run into the boys at a bar the night before and they got us in. It was held in the parking lot in front of the AE store in the city (north and sheffield). Nobody seemed to care they were playing when they took the stage except my two friends and myself. It was like a private show and so badass. A couple members of Kill Hannah were there as well. Good times.

EvilMotivator - 9-14-2004 at 06:25 PM

Oh man, that's sweet. I wish I could've been there.

happysmilely - 9-14-2004 at 08:10 PM

don't we all

TurtleEnterprises - 9-14-2004 at 09:39 PM

I would have cared, we all would have cared! So if you guys never ran into the guy at a bar, there would'nt have been anyone there ? Strange....

happysmilely - 9-15-2004 at 07:40 AM

Yeah IMa was telling me about it and how no fans would be there and it was going to suck. they weren't very happy to play it. but "it's a gig"

if I had the $ I so would have gone
