RUSH - TONIGHT

lomax - 9-9-2004 at 02:14 AM

OK, going to see Rush tonight at Wembley Arena. I am not a huge fan but my Dad got me a ticket, so i am not going to complain! I do really like them, what I have heard. I grew up on Roll The Bones, so those are the tracks i'll be singing along to. Geddy Lee has a great voice and Neil Peart is a wicked drummer (looking forward to a drum solo today!). The other thing I've heard about is there amazingly long sets, with no support, they play for nearly 3 hours. I am really looking forward to it, as the piartechnics and video/lights show is also meant to be superb. I will report back tomorrow!

Should be a good time. Pay attention kimosabe. They are legends. Wish I could've caught them @ the Hollywood Bowl. Would've been monumental.:cool:

What about The Crash Test Dummies?

WOWEE! They were awesome. My dad has seen them 6 times and also seen about 5000 other bands and he said that was one of the best gigs hes been to. Some of the songs i knew were Dreamline, Bravado and Roll The Bones (both from my fave Rush CD), Earthshine (great track), Spirit of Radio (They opened with this), Tom Sawyer (They opened with this after the interval), YYX (Really cool fast track that everyone sings the riff bit too! 'DA DA DA DAAA DA!';), 2112 (went on for ages! was wicked, the guitarist did a bit during the middle where he was going 'I forgot all the words, and the dream was so real, i was crying', pretending to cry) and Xanadou. Was a great night. This tour is the first time they've been to England in 12 Years.

Oh, witnessing a Neil Peart 8-Minute Drum Solo in the flesh was also something very, very, very special. That should be one of the '10 things to do before you die'. Absolutely amazing.

:lol::lol::

Dude, I saw them on a rerun of SNL, and tripped out on how long ago that hit was. Believe it, or not the song reminds me of some cool times around 1994ish, but only reminds me.:D They were dressed like such geeks. :lol::lol::lol:

So what about the voice of Geddy Lee? Does he really talk like that? :D (just a lil Malkymus flashback there)

lomax - 9-10-2004 at 11:27 PM

yeah, 'helium voiced' i think is the term.

What a great front man, and still going well at 50+

He does those funny jumps and hopping, its funny.
