This was sent to me by another fan on the site. I haven't driven by Johnies, on Wilsher, to see if it is really there, but I would assume that it
really is.
How do you think it got there?

Anyone live near there that can confirm? That's Wilshire and Fairfax, incidentally across from the corner where Biggie was shot (saw the Nick
Broomfield documentary two days ago, that guy is an egomaniac).

My documentary teacher in London, Brian Winston, was Nick Broomfield's mentor at "uni" way back when. Brian was quite vocal about the utter shame he
felt for having taught Nick considering what a complete no-talent Michael Moore wannabe he is.
I was at Beverly and Fairfax last night for a midnight Hedwig screening. I could have swung by had I known. Alas.

Not to hiijack this thread, but the thing about Nick Broomfield is, once you admit to yourself that he's more Montel Williams than documentarian, you
can start to have fun with him. But you have to go into the experience wanting bombast more than information. "Kurt and Courtney" was pretty over
the top (understatement).

Kurt and Courtney was one of the most laughably bad documentaries I've ever seen. If the film had ended with Courtney contracting a hit on Nick, it
would have been the greatest film ever.
BTW, Johnnie's is also where Mr. Orange and his partner Holdaway meet up in Reservoir Dogs.

Another user sent this in. I wonder if Alex is up there with his can of spray paint in the middle of the night? That would be strange!
Looks like that internet worm hit our server that hosts the images and downloads. Hopefully it will be back up soon.

Could someone please tell me why I see those face stickers (and now big ol' poster) everywhere?? What in the hell is it? I'm so not hip, I know this!
I've heard it's Andre The Giant, but why??? And how did they get EVERYWHERE???? :o:o

I drive by that place everyday(i have a customer right down the street), and never noticed it, but I'll definitely look for it next week. I actually
drove down Fairfax the same night Biggie got shot. It was a Saturday night I'll never forget. I worked overtime in City of Industry, and decided to
take cruise out to LA in my girlfriends' car(which she still thought I was working). I think I went by before the shooting, but destinctively
remember a Snoop Dogg concert going on at the HOuse of Blues that night, and now that I spend more time in that area, it makes me wonder how Suge
Knights' Death Row office is just a few blocks from there...
I actually went to Death Row in December to try promote my business. The security guard said they had crappy computers, and asked us if we we were
hiring, then a few days later the sheriff raided them , and violated "Shuu-zhey".

I believe that whole building housing Johnnie's has been destroyed. I had driven by there a few weeks ago and remember being surprised by either
1-Johnnie's, which had been there forever, had closed its doors, or 2-The building was demolished. One or the other - take your pick, I guess :duh:

Another film connection: The atrocious "Miracle Mile" was also filmed in Johnny's. I think Nic Cage played the lead? Am I wrong? My favorite part
of the plot was that it was an end-of-the-world situation and their big concern was locating a group of valuable survivors who would have the chance
to escape the destruction...and one of the ones picked was Carl Sagan.

I've heard the name of that movie so much, and can't believe I haven't seen it yet. Must do.

No! It's not worth your time. Rent "Curly Sue" instead.
