batcave_baby - 11-2-2004 at 10:15 AM

I voted this morning. If we're going to have four more years of hell and international embarassment, I at least want to be able to bitch about it!

one of my friends has actually set her alarm at 300 to see whos won tonight. the freak.

poobs - 11-2-2004 at 11:09 AM

She might as well sleep..I have a feeling this isn't going to be resolved at the end of the day..I think it's too close to call..

Seb - 11-2-2004 at 11:11 AM

I think Kerry will win the popular vote and Bush the electoral college although it is really close so who knows. I do not support Bush or Kerry but Kerry is the lesser of two evils.

TurtleEnterprises - 11-2-2004 at 11:21 AM

Of coarse I voted! :) I am so anxious!

poobs - 11-2-2004 at 11:55 AM

I told him to stop being lazy and write some new material. He got mad at me :D But anywho, did anyone watch that SNL Presidential Bash thing?

lurker - 11-3-2004 at 12:16 AM

We're about to send the world the message that we agree with his policy of pre-emptive war and violence. As if Americans werent hated enough before...

:o I personally don't care what other countries think of Americans. If it were so bad here, they wouldn't all want to come here to live and work. And do you think I really care what the freakin' entertainment field thinks of it all? Shit, that should tell you right there!

How should I NOT take offense? I voted for Bush..I happen to agree with his policies more than Kerry..Why am I ignorant for going along with the candidate that speaks to ME more than the other? Iraq wasn't even in my top 3 important issues..As for other countries, fine..Let them hate us..Until they need our help..

Again..Politics debates can get really heated..I respect the fact that you don't like Bush..There is no need for name-calling, lurker..

batcave_baby - 11-3-2004 at 09:02 AM

The Fuck-Face president has perpetuated the arrogant American attitude that the life of an American is more valuable than that of someone from anthother county. That arrogance underlies all his horrible decisions and is what has corroded the relations.

The US can't stand on it's own, as much as "we" would like to think. If we could do without oil from the Middle East, we wouldn't be in Iraq right now. The Fool has no desire or plan to decrease our dependance on oil because then all his friends companies would crumble. Wahhh.

TurtleEnterprises - 11-3-2004 at 09:13 AM

.... I don't even know what to say or think. I wasn't, and am still not a big fan of Bush. Hopefully this time around. He'll prove himself to be a trustworthy president.

Seb - 11-3-2004 at 09:57 AM

You know what, you have gotta hand it to Bush, in three years he got every country in the world to come together and hate America, Saddam has been trying that for 30.

I think someone should care if everyone hated your country seeing as you will be doing business with them. What if some country decides to stop trading with you? What will it do to your economy? What about jobs? Also, yes people want to come to the US to work and start new lives but when you come from, lets say, a war ridden country anything is better. People hate the government, not the country itself. For all you liberals, come to Canada. Everyone loves us, were all liberals, you can smoke weed, marry your gay lover and bask in the glowing rays of sun for two weeks a year when its not snowing and cold or raining and cold.

The American people have spoken..The majority obviously don't want a liberal way of life at the moment..I think one disadvantage Kerry had was that he was such a huge liberal! I would be happy if we had a liberal Republican in office..That would fit my needs just fine..

Seb - 11-3-2004 at 10:58 AM

The US is a very right wing country, I think it’s frightening.
Good luck America with the next four years and try not to take the rest of the world down with you.
I guess the US will stay in Iraq and "liberate" them. Actually, I find it funny that the US wants to liberate the people of Iraq from the Saddam regime yet they support Saudi Arabia, which is a totalitarian dictatorship.

California is not indicative of the rest of the U.S. We have it great here. We’re better educated, more creative, culturally diverse, and have access to things others may never see. The rest of the country is basically trailer parks, and farms. It’s pretty much Jerry Springer everywhere else. If you look at the states that Kerry won, they’re all the metropolitan cities, and hippie states.

Take it from a Midwestern kid brought to the big city. America is mostly sack lunches, and hayrides. It sucks that the rest of the world thinks that Bush represents “smarter” America, but he doesn’t. He represents Gluttonous hicks, and hillbillies.

Oh well, let’s just ride these last four years out, and watch him make a fool of himself. If you think about it, it’s kind of a green light to be as fucking crazy as we want too, because Middle America doesn’t care if you’re ruthless, devious, deceiving, evil, and downright “AWNRY”(to use a Texan word). So go out there, and get it folks!! YEE HAW!!! (just don’t get caught in Texas)

And, honestly..Are you calling ME mindless? I didn't call my sister mindless for voting for Kerry, even though I didn't agree..Stop thinking that anyone who voted for Bush is stupid and accept that Kerry wasn't right for the majority of the US! I'm sick of being called a "hick" or "mindless" because of my choice..I've tried to be nice on here and say that I respect other people's opinions..It would be nice to get that same respect back..

seacaptain - 11-3-2004 at 12:29 PM

Last night they were already talking about Bush's plan to drill for oil in the Arctic. Oh wait, that's ok, because it's not in my backyard! It's another part of the world, so fuck it. We're Americans!

I seriously was not kidding about us losing our civil liberties either. It's going to happen now. You like being searched by police when they have no probable cause to do so? Good, because that's where we're headed because of this election. Blatant bigotry and discrimination is already becoming the law--proof is in all those anti-gay marriage amendments. Women will be dying unnecessarily when Roe v. Wade gets overturned. Our privacy rights will be lost, our freedoms will be curtailed or limited. It's all going to happen over the next generation or two and all because of this President winning this election right now.

If this kind of thing doesn't bother you, then I feel sorry for you. (I'm not talking to anyone in particular, btw.)

Fine..I should have said, "You've stated how you feel about the people who voted for Bush"..Is that better? It still doesn't take away the fact that you honestly believe I'm stupid for voting for the person I PERSONALLY feel will do a better job in office..

I started this thread as a fun thing cuz I was excited that I voted and would hopefully make a difference..I said that I didn't want to know who you voted for or why..I just wanted to know that you voted because it's important..I know how the subject of politics can get heated which is why I wanted it to stay neutral..Then you people started throwing out insults and being disrespectful..It's funny that neither of the 2 conservatives on this board said anything to disrespect people who voted for Kerry cuz that's just ugly..I really did think .netters were above all that..

oh man I had to say that to someone here the other day, but they got it out of me anyway today. It really isn't a big deal. I voted this time, because I thought it was going to matter, but seriously, I haven't voted since 92', and that was when I was all young & gung ho about shit, and since then I totally could give a fuck, but now it's official. No more voting for me. Such a waste of time & energy. Oh man I remember in 92 when it was like this too. MTV had House of Pain on Rock The Vote singing "Jump Around". I still have it on video "Push The Bush" it was actually a pretty cool performance, but I shall digress back into the "Neuwave-Cave", and watch the destruction from Satellite.:D

Why would you say that? California went to Kerry because of voters like you..I could be saying the same thing..My vote didn't matter since I'm in Cali..I knew Bush wouldn't win the state..It doesn't discourage me from voting though..I did my part and that's all that matters, win or lose..

I'm with Poobs -- Bush does indeed seem to speak for the majority of Americans. It's a majority by a fairly slim margin, but a majority nonetheless.

That's why someone like me -- a person who found the actions of the Bush administration absolutely deplorable -- needs to start reevaluating my place in the United States. Do I belong in a country that is operated in a way that runs completely counter to my own values?

It's a bit of a Catch-22. Like Neuwave said, California is something of an anomaly. I like the progressive politics in California, even if they are often the product of trendiness and celebrity bandwagoning. But California can only do so much to stem the tide of the growing right-wing, Christian, conservative movement in this country.

Do I want to continue living in a country in which the laws are informed by Christian dogma (despite constitutional assurances that church and state will remain separate)? Do I want to continue living in a country that engages in barbaric warfare, to the dismay of much of the rest of the world? Do I want to live in a country run by a corporate spokesperson?

I really don't know. "Four more years" is a long time, and at this point, the fight to change this place seems kinda futile. Bush drove the economy into the ground, facilitated the deaths of hundreds of American sodliers, ordered the murder of Iraqi women and children, revoked countless civil liberties, and the majority of America apparently loves him for it. It's hard to imagine a worse presidency than Bush's first term but nevertheless, the people of this country signed on for another four years of it.

Maybe I should just move to Sweden?

I know, I feel at a loss too, that's understandable.

But that doesn't mean I'm defeated.

Reducing discrimination, protecting our liberties, all that stuff I said in an earlier post--dammit, these are battles that have to be fought. It's a huge uphill battle now, for sure... and getting worse. That's why I'm so angry about the election.

The least everyone can do is vote every year and try to make it slightly easier for those of us who want to fight hard for those rights.

Anyways that's all I'm going to say on this, because I'm starting to repeat myself. Fight the power.

TurtleEnterprises - 11-3-2004 at 04:47 PM

Anyone feel strongly about any of the propositions?

batcave_baby - 11-3-2004 at 05:02 PM

I was propositioned once.

batcave_baby - 11-3-2004 at 05:05 PM

Just for the record, I only claimed hatred for the president and his administration, not the rebuplican party as a whole, or the people who voted for Bush, or especially not Poobs!

TurtleEnterprises - 11-3-2004 at 05:05 PM

 You are truly the best Batcave, always making me laugh.

what's the rush? punctuation is quite helpful. i suggest you start using it more often.

minimandy14 - 11-3-2004 at 08:18 PM

does it really bother people that much that i don't use proper punctuation on my posts?

EvilMotivator - 11-3-2004 at 08:19 PM

yup.

poobs - 11-3-2004 at 08:20 PM
