It seems this month I have been completely swept away by a phenomenon of sound
with seriously sensual vocalism, beats, keys and electronics that call themselves Goldfrapp.
I heard the album "Felt Mountain" browsing in a vintage clothing store. While
looking at rings, it became an all too compelling notion that instead of jewelry, I should
be buying this fucking album! Equal parts Ennio Morricone style soundtrack and silky
female songstress, with theramin and digital waves providing an utterly fantastic
soundscape. The inside artwork is of a snowy mountain and a fireplace which sets
the tone for being a wintertime masterpiece, yet the album heats up with tracks like "human"
and "utopia". Yesterday I followed this up with their latest album "Black Cherry", which
leaves the winter wonderland and heads towards a more sultry and dark dance scene that is equally
atmospheric and encompassing. Enjoy alone or with company, highly pleasing.
