The New and Improved imarobot.net

Phobiac - 4-21-2006 at 09:55 AM

draconian is shaking her scalpel at me when I say this, but soon this site will have a facelift... she hates is when i say anything will be "coming soon..." as she knows that I am the master of procrastination.

Anyway, I was going to take the site down...but I believe that .net has something special over the myspace page and the soon to com .com page. Yes, that would be Poobs. Just joking....

So, hopefully there are some out there that would like to help out...art, design, programming, encouragement and suggestions.

So post here what your wonderful ideas are.

What would your ideal imarobot.net site look like?

Cool; let's think about it and kick it off in about two weeks time.

Maybe Marv can add some of his artistic talents.

dynamic limerick generation (aka DLG) powered by RiffRaff...

Got it...

This will be the main engine of the site.

What do you mean just joking?? I just want color..Lots and lots of color!! :duh:

draconian - 4-22-2006 at 10:02 AM

Yay! Thanks, Phobes. One Page Jammy - Current .Net - Future .Net!

RiffRaff - 4-22-2006 at 03:45 PM

I think what separates the sex from the wack vis-a-vis band fan sites is accessibility and information.

Compare the new Beck site (cumbersome Flash nightmare) to the old design (extensive discography and easy navigation). Clean intuitive interface and plenty of news and reference material is all the skeet that's fit to skeet.

Neuwave - 4-23-2006 at 01:20 AM

I still have tons of pics & videos that have never been seen before. Been waiting for my life to get to the point where I have time to rummage & edit. Whatever you do Kyle I got your back. I won't even ask what happen to your MySpace. I was looking for you the other day, and didn't find ya.

Anyway, Robots forever!!

Noisemonster - 4-24-2006 at 11:33 AM

Sounds good!! Colors! Colors! Colors!

but everything is okay as long as the site works. And I hope that some nice members will return..

although terribly spelled, i think its a good idea: content besides the forums good enough to bring people to the site. other than just to talk, i think people come here to find out info on the band, etc. even though it would be a ton of work, i've imagined a super extensive discography with all of the rare stuff we rarely hear about or a compiled history of shows, interviews, things like that. maybe a spellchecker lol

blogbourri - 4-26-2006 at 10:43 AM

An extensive discography would be a godsend.

draconian - 4-26-2006 at 05:47 PM

I would absolutely love to update the discography and the rest, but my ability to save anything from this site on either Front Page or Word ceased a long time ago. Phobes, you might have to send an update.

In other news, Ima Robot is playing an acoustic set at the Saturday afternoon of Coachella, though not at the fest itself--at the Frank Sinatra estate. Anyone going?

Considering the bottom half of that page is virtually gibberish, I dunno that I'd call it "extensive." Of course, part of the problem is it seems most of the folks here downloaded their songs off P2P and have no idea where they came from...

beedun - 4-28-2006 at 05:47 AM

Hey just thought I would lend some of my skills if needed. I am a professional programmer, all day long making shit with php and mysql.

Let me know if you need help with anything! Seriously!

Me too..There was this scene in the show Arrested Development where Henry Winkler (who played the Fonz on Happy Days) literally jumped over a dead shark that they thought was the seal that bit off Buster's hand..Oohhh..Classic..:duh:
