You may only have the lingering sunburn to remind you of Coachella, but the season of live music and arts festivals has just begun in L.A. On
Saturday, the non-profit organization ArtPeace hosts a day of music, crafts, and art installations for kids and adults alike. Taking place at BoxEight
Studios, the event features local bands, including Rainbow Arabia, Saint Motel, Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros, and Devendra Banhart's side
project, Megapuss.
Running well past midnight, the event is essentially split in half, so the kids rule from noon to 5 p.m., then the grown-ups take over until 2 a.m.
The daytime portion will feature a tie-dye booth sponsored by local clothing company Alternative Apparel and a booth by TOMS, where you can design
your own trendy shoes. The kids will also be entertained by magicians, photo booths, drum circles, and, uh, wood working. Admission is free for anyone
16 and younger. Tickets are $15 for everyone else, but that price gets knocked down to $10 if you bring a Metro ticket. |
