Ima Robot indeed. Ha, I only wish I was when this music is the sexiest - and fleetingly the sleaziest - music this side of Amsterdam by neon-light,
especially as '12=3' gallantly progresses from its RATM-styled monologue intro through to vocal turns from charismatic singer Alex Ebert
that remind of Tim Booth and Hawksley Workman on overtime. He sings 'I like gravity - it's virtual and visual'… but 'We're
all going to die - the end!'
'Black Jettas' seems more sonically booming, beatastic and of Glammier Alt.-rock stylings, before their lust for hedonistic times divulges
yet more about their fun indulgences as 'Sex Symbols on Parade' boldly rumbles with quirky, Hives-esque arrogance. 'Girls love
me!' proclaims Alex, and then the Beat Goes On's fun-Goth (that's reminiscent of Remote Control's substance) wraps up this
fantastically welcome portal into the twisted pop minds of these five evil geniuses who make up Ima Robot.
With all-seeing eyes, these guys must know that this sound they're pioneering with glee might just be the future sound of music full-stop. It is
that original, that essential - and that downright fecking fruity and loopy and loveable. 6/5 (STEVE RUDD)
