24-08-02 News From JMJ's Site

JMJ mentions that the band will be heading to New York for some pre-production work and song writing in September. New York? I thought there was more than you would ever need in Hollywood.

Anyone know what's up with New York?

The good news is that this is progress and once enough songs are written (re-written) maybe we will be lucky enough to get some more shows!

Site News:
Most of the bugs are worked out with the forums and more enhancements will be coming soon. Hopefully we\'ll get the demos up for everybody’s listening enjoyment soon. We have a new server with unlimited bandwidth, so we\'re good there!

Enjoy.

There was also a link to the Fender site, which had this info:

"Justin Meldal-Johnsen: Beck to Bassics
Longtime Beck bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen recently inked a record deal with Virgin Records for his own project called Ima Robot. The LA-based band was put together with Justin in November 2001 after the completion of Beck's Midnite Vultures World Tour. Throughout the Winter and Spring, they made demos and played club shows around Los Angeles and were offered deals from several labels in May. Ima Robot is a high-energy mix of elements from 1970's art-rock, new wave, punk, and electronic music. The band is in the studio in Los Angeles currently doing pre-production and writing for their debut album, as well as meeting with different producer candidates. Justin will also be joining Beck for sporadic concerts in support of Beck's upcoming September release Sea Change on Geffen/Interscope Records. The album was produced by Nigel Godrich and recorded with Beck, Justin, and the rest of the Beck band over a three-week period in April 2002."

That description encapsulates them really well, 70's art-rock/new wave, etc. There are no other bands that I know of doing quite the same thing right now--Ima Robot is going to be muy grande!
