PLEONASM had this to say about Ima Robot's opening slot for J/S in San Diego:
"I did manage to get to one concert recently - first one in ages. It was Denmark's Junior Senior, at Brick by Brick here in San Diego. The
show was massively entertaining and fun. Everyone was dancing, singing along, clapping, and having a great time - unusual for San Diego crowds, who
tend to stand with arms crossed, motionless, so I've heard. The support band, ima robot, were absolutely amazing. I just couldn't turn away
for a second, it was so fascinating to watch them. They had so much energy. Beforehand, I had asked someone in the crowd what to expect from ima
robot, and he said, “They're like a cross between the Cars and Devo,” but I'd say they're more like a cross between Suede (vocals and
general look) and Silverfish (energy and noisiness), without sounding like either. Either way, I'd definitely pay to see them again. Oh, and
throughout their set I was thinking how much one of the band looked like Beck's guitarist Justin Mendal-Johnson; when I researched the matter
later, sure enough, it was him."
