It's taken a week since the notion re-entered my near concious recollection, but for those of you who don't know...one of the greatest groups that ever reared it's ever changing face is the duo know to the world as WEEN.
They are by far one of the most prolific and creative forces, aside from being deliriously entertaining, that ever existed.
It took finding a tape I made of the album the Mollusk to rekindle my total worship of this
band....
years ago I tripped hard and loved every minute of my discovery of 'Pure Guava' which wielded the single, "Push the little daisies", that had momentary cult status as a late night mtv video, featuring these two madmen walking thru cornfields with a surfboard and hanging out in 'the living room' with a chick and sniffing mushrooms...it was too much and just enough.
My friends and I were die hards then and not an album comes out that I don't seek out.
I recall the underground lore of those in the know, that when they inked in the early 90's with
Elektra...it was a deal worth a cool million for 7 records...and they handed in all 7 records up front to be released once a year...how crazy is that? very!...and all the records are somewhat conceptually different, but manically entertaining...

If you've never heard of them or are now totally curious...head straight for 'Chocolate and Cheese'
featuring the songs...'Baby Bitch' and 'Spinal Meningitis got me down'...

They single handedly started the rumour that there was such a high as inhaling scotchguard
via bong and had rabid fans bringing them gourmet food before their shows because their ryders were crap filled.

any group that is anything but country, that releases an album
called "12 golden country greats",
featuring 11 songs, in my book is utter genius. period.
Once you hear the song..."piss up a rope",
you will NEVER be the same again.

Chocolate & Cheese is a masterpiece. I remember going to their concert a few years back(Wiltern, or El Rey), and the guy who played "Michael Bolton" on Office Space from MadTV was behind me singing every song word for word, and knew the whole set list by heart. It was borderline annoying, but it was cool. I think one of the dudes from Weezer was there too, because I remember a crowd of girls screaming around him.
