The Eagles of Death Metal

Peace, love, death metal, well I'm not sure it's really any of those, maybe there's a lot of love here, but it neither sounds like the Eagles or Death metal whatsoever...:lol::lol:
Wasn't sure what to expect, but there is a magnetic charm to this record from Jesse "the devil' Hughes and Carlo Von Sexron (or Baby Duck) aka Josh Homme of QOTSA on drums.
After a few listenens I really like the idea that this guy J Devil may be a fresh inspirado cowboy tipping his hat to Jon Spencer and the old blues explosion, before it went wacky and hung out with Cibo matto.
The cover of Jerry Rafferty's "stuck in the middle (with you)", penned as "stuck in the metal", offers a little insight to the kind of bluesy garage scruff they do, but rather timeless little romps like "I only want you", "speaking in tongues", and "bad dream mama", kinda kick it with the hand claps and the side to side dances I can see doing to this really easy rockin' duo (with a few celeb guest on some tracks).

I have a feeling though that this will be some total candy to the ears after about three listens when you realize where their vibe is at... white pot stripes anyone... shoot, Thai stick rock is coming to mind right now...:lol::lol:

Man I always miss the good bands on late shows.. I don't watch them like I used to.

I just heard of this band 2 nights ago. My best friend told me he hated them but he thought I'd like them.. and I did! They're pretty cool.

crazy enough...I turned on Conan to catch them rock "speaking in tongues" which is such a fun jam... just based on personell and personality alone, they'll probably 'go far' this year

I was gonna say sumthin' about the Sonic youth releases which are cool, but thought they might fall on deaf ears and eyes

Saw them on Conan. I thought they had a Cibo Matto-type saound going. Don't like the guy's voice though. That bass player was pretty rockin' though. \m/

To break your heart
There\'s someone calling your name
It\'s driving you insane
