Hey why don't you share your experience meeting lead singer Alex Ebert/Sonny DeVore?

So his name is Alex? Cool! I could've sworn I heard this dude call him something else at the first gig at the Viper, but oh well. Having no idea what we were in for at the first show, me & Lazybeth(in town for RAC) were wallflowering in the back, and Alex came out before the show, and was hanging right next to us chattin, but I had no idea who he was until he went on stage. Anyway, I've gotten a chance to shoot the shit with him twice. First time was after that show when going to car he was out on the side of the Viper talking to some chick, and I said, "Nice show" to him and he said, "Thanks.". I asked if the CD was in stores yet, or if they had demos? Alex said, "Nah." I jokingly told him I'd talk to Justin about that(as if i knew him), and we laughed.

Second time, was just at the last show after I finally got to listen to a couple of the songs in detail , and recently been rockin to "dynamite". When we drove up to the Vipe I saw most of the band unloading gear, so we parked, and walked over to see everybody. Alex walked over, and I said "what's up?". Told him how cool they were, and how I've been identifying with "dynamite", and wish I had one, then he was like "yeah...i know", then rememered he does have one which I thought was funny, because I pretty much do too, but ya know...

My only experience is yelling "dynamite" at the last Viper Room show hoping they would play it. I yelled it so loud I think that I scared the band!

Luckily, it was the next song and they thought I was some sort of prognosticator. At least something to the sort came from the Alex's mouth.

Can't wait for the next shows! Who knows when that will be? I need a connection to some IMA Robot MP3's!

I heard about that! cool!

I had the unique experience of having a civilized chat with Alex/Sonny about the perils of tossing underwear onstage during their set.

It was practically a safety exercise.

I remember asking if if they had ever had that happen to them before, and he said no but that they would love it if it did. I asked him if it wouldn't freak them out a little bit, all this stuff flying out at them with loose ends and things. The stage at the Viper Room is small enough without having to deal with a brastrap in your face. He thought that was kind of funny, so I then had him fill out a waiver so that he would not sue if a fan's underthings hurt or maimed him in any way. Not really. I still have to draw up that document.

They are that kind of band, though--they have a Tom Jones element to them, live.

I got a chance to talk to Tim after the Troubadour show for a sec. He coo. Just asked him if Justin was around, because he said he may have some extra discs on him.
