How do you like Chinese handmade embroidery art?




Brief Introduction:

The beautiful embroidery pictures are usually embroidered by experienced girls and women. They start to learn from their mothers or mentors since they are very young.

They can embroider almost all the pictures available. When you just see it, you may think it is painted. It's credible for them to creat such lively image with just needles and threads.

The works now are ofter put into frams as home,hotel or office decoration.

It gives you beautiful imagination when you have a little time to relax.

To own a few piceces of embroidery in your home will give you more pleasure and enjoyness.

Four Chinese Embroidery Style:
Chinese silk embroidery is well known all over the world. There are four main styles:
Su embroidery
Xiang embroidery
Yue embroidery
Shu embroidery

Su embroidery

The origin for Su embroidery is in Jiangsu Province.It's the most famous style among all. It appeared more than 2000 years ago. It was produced on a large scale during Song Dynasty(960--1279A.D.)

Up to now, Su embroidery technique has reached a new level based on so many years background and development.
Su embroidery is well known for its delicacy and elegance. The design is very simple, high lighting a main theme with rich background as well. Its stitching is smooth, dense, thin, neat, even, delicate and harmonious.

The thin thread is divided into up to 48 stands that are barely visible to naked eyes.

Su embroidery also includes double-sided style which need more experienced and high embroidery techniques to make. It looks the same on each side. An incredible art.

Su embroidery has become increasingly famous throughout the world since its success at the Panama World Fair in 1915.

Xiang embroidery

Xiang means Hunan Province.

Xiang embroidery began since Chu kingdom of the Warring States(221B.C. ago). Later it was developed from Hunan folk art embroidery methods and take some techniques from Su embroidery and Yue embroidery.

It uses loose colorful threads to embroider different designs. The stitches are not as neat as those of other embroidery styles. The various colored threads are mixed together, showing a gradual change in color with a rich and harmonious tone.

The themes are mostly derived from traditional Chinese paintings of landscape, human figures, flowers, birds and animals. Lions and tigers are most common subjects on Xiang embroidery.

Yue embroidery
Yue embroidery means Canton embroidery. It includes Guang and Chao branches which have different stitching styles.

The designs of Yue embroidery are rich and complicated in content with bright colors and strong decorative effects. It is smooth and even.

Shu embroidery

Shu means Sichuan Province. The center for Shu embroidery is Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province. They are made with soft satins and colored threads.

The subjects on Shu embroidery are often flowers, birds, landscapes, fish, worms and human figures. They may appear on the following products:
pillow covers cushions table cloths and handkerchief

Besides the above mentioned, there are still some other embroidery styles which have their own Characteristics
