Who Should Produce The Debut Album?

My vote is with Ric Ocasek. Just the man to cultivate the New Wave undercurrent in IMA Robot's music. Not to mention an amazing resume that includes work with Bad Brains and Weezer.

Part of me also thinks JMJ has the chops to pull it off. I don't know if it is de rigueur for a member of the band to have that kind of ubiquity on a project, though...

Any other ideas?

I wonder what Rick Rubin's up to besides cruisin around LA in that fat Bentley with the kickin stereo.;) At least that's what he was doing the last time I saw him in 96.

Rubin produced the new Chili Peppers album, which is fairly brilliant, IMO.

Wow! they must really like working with him. That's the 3rd one they've done with him (I think). Although I personally feel that "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" is something , yet to be rivaled.

Did you see the VH1 documentary about the making of BloodSugarSexMagic? Crazy stuff. I liked how Chad refused to stay in the haunted house because he was so spooked by it.

Also, they had footage of the church choir that John Frusciante's mom brought in for "Under The Bridge."

Pretty epic album, you'd think someone other than VH1 would want to do a more sweeping docu about it...
