Here's the craziness from this show! It's like I free-based Ima Robot this weekend...Viper Room, HOB squared.

The Hot Hot Heat fans were so cool. Many were very curious about Ima Robot. The hardcore Hot Hot Heaters that were at Inland Invasion mentioned that they knew about Ima Robot becuase of the banners that were flying around over the Blockbuster venue.

Ok some of the highlights....

During Black Jettas the girl standing next to me was so excited that she took out her car key and screamed I have a Black Jetta and continued to wave the key throughout the entire song. This new trend may be sweeping the nation soon. Good bye cigarete lighters.

Ima Robot will enjoy many new fans from the Hot Hot Heat tour. When I was leaving I overheard a tall young blonde haired kid speaking on his cell phone...
Quote:

Dude....you missed out....you should have been here....This band...Ima Robot is completely awesome...I just bought their CD...but you should have been here it was just unreal...so amazing....Ima Robot...they rocked soooo hard....

If anything can be taken from the HOB shows it is that...so many people had that reaction...it was just really cool to see other people really get it. In fact, the reception was so strong...I fear that The Bot will upstage Hot Hot Heat. Don't get me wrong...Hot Hot Heat rocked the place, with a ton of energy; but....

Another kickass performance. It was a little looser there at the end than the previous night, with various sections of Here Come The Bombs being so riddled with energy that we didn't know which end was up---but that's a good thing in the Martha Stewart sense, and added to the highly charged atmosphere at this particular show.

Very fun having my girls Poobs and Batcave Baby nearby to scream at Alex the whole set, you guys made this one a lot of fun. If Kyle weren't wearing a wire, I'm sure he would be shouting along right with us!

The setlist didn't vary too much from last night's, excepting the replacement of A is For Action with Alive. Once again, STD Dance was the highlight, though the crowd was packed in so tightly that not a lot of movement could be had, which Alex even commented on.

Some little things we picked up that helped amplify the performace:

Oligee is a crazy nut back there sometimes--he probably thinks no one is watching him back there but he busts out some old school dance moves like you wouldn't believe. Nice to see him come out front for Here Come The Bombs, too.

The crowd was really into Black Jettas--the girl standing next to us was very stoked to hear her car mentioned in the lyrics and grabbed her keys to wave during the song.

Dynomite with crowd participation is so fun!

This band just gets better and better. Virgin has always had it right about them--the Ima Robot converts we met were converts for life. It wasn't like there was one album from the band that they would enjoy, it was more like they were in it for the long haul. Which sets them apart from so many acts right now. I suppose this is a topic for another thread, we'll chat later.

Oh and Poobs, did you ever get an answer about that break in Black Jettas that was reworked?

Yes! Justin was so awesome after the show! He told me that there IS a small pause on the recorded song, but the reverb from the instruments makes it so it isn't as clean of a stop during the show..

It was a damn great time..I was bummed I couldn't get to the SActo show, but I was there in spirit, damn it!! I spoke with Alex after the show and he was really cool as well..I'm so stoked that this band is absolutely amazingly talented, and are also really down to earth cool guys..It makes me love them even more! :D

Huzzah!!

This night was one to remember (as I'm sure the hhheat spots will be)...It was as if this amazing band crashed some senior prom and was received with dumbfoundedness and disbelief. To go from the vipers gig to this was hysterical (seemed like mostly teenage girls all touching up their lipstick for whoever...)...meanwhile here comes...
"I wanna screw you up, I wanna fuckfuckfuck..." you know how it goes...'under the spot light"...wonder if there were any 'moms there... just made it that much more awesome, like some cooky Top of the pops gig only they weren't lip sync'ing.
It's weird to see a show in this setting, knowing that this might be one of the few times left at this point to see IMA ROBOT where you get a genuine
astonished reaction from people who hadn't heard them before - seeing as how they will probably be huge' within the next year. One to remember for sure.
Set was such a tease, but a fix indeed.
The other two bands sucked whoever they were...

I'm sure Kyle was screaming on the inside...

Okay, that show was SO worth a two-hour traffic-ravaged drive and almost running out of gas for! I'm still High...ahhhhhhh! Unlike some of our trusty comrades here, I have never been the type who could come away from a show remembering all these details. Instead it's like these memories of the show come flooding back every time I listen to the music afterward. So I'm totally useless when it comes to concrete information. Sometimes I can't even remember all the songs that were played becuase I was so wrapped up in the moment. So now, listening to Scream reminds me of how beautiful and emotionally raw Alex appeared during that song both at the Viper Room and House of Blues. Live shows really can change the way you hear the recorded music.

And it works the other way as well; Until I got the CD last week I had only heard Dirty Life played live, but hearing it recorded I noticed for the first time how strong and just fucking awesome the bass line is. Go JMJ!!! I guess during the live shows, I was too consumed with Alex's "I wanna do you, I wanna screw you up, I wanna fuck, fuck, fuck" (right back at you, big guy) that I was deaf to everything else.
