The meat eaters at
Tastes Like Chicken have a nice review of the album:
IMA ROBOT - IMA ROBOT
cd review by night watchman
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"As you all may remember, just a short while ago I did a review of Ima Robot’s four-song EP, Public Access, and the only complaint I had was the
fact that it was only four songs long.
Well, ask and you shall receive. The full-length self-titled Ima Robot CD arrived just a few days after the EP review went online, and it's worth
the wait.
I didn’t think it was possible for a band to mature so much in such a short span of time. Everything that was great about this band on their EP is
still there. The retro Eighties feel, rocking tunes with Atari keyboard noises bouncing around in the background, killer melodies, and a damn good
sense of songwriting. Still, glimpses of Public Image Ltd., Prick, and Enon flash here and there, but now we have the addition of some of the
melancholy moments that remind me of Granddaddy and even a little bit of David Bowie.
If you didn’t run out and get Ima Robot’s EP last month, then you truly missed out. If you don’t get their full-length self-titled disc, you’ll be
missing out on the best album I’ve heard this year."
