Nice job and thank you!

Hi everybody,

Some of you I've had the pleasure of meeting, some not. But I just wanted to post on here and say what a great website this is starting out to be! Tim (guitarist) told me it's been getting dope lately, and I hadn't seen it since it was a simple one-page jammy. Anyway, we're really deeply thankful to those who put this together. I have a feeling that this site is set up to be the definitive IMA Robot site for the future. At the moment, IMA Robot.com is on idle, but something should happen soon.

Let's see if I can do my part and contribute some info:

We're writing songs and practicing for the shows...Joey Waronker is doing great and we're having a lot of fun with him. He loves this opportunity to "play fast and rock out a bit". We're basically teaching him the existing repertoire and writing new songs with him in a very limited time frame because of his current availability. Joey is at the moment producing a new album right now for The Incredible Moses Leroy at his studio, so he won't have full days of work with us until probably the third week of October. At that time, we'll be finishing up the writing of the record until we start the actual process, which could be as soon as mid-November. We think we've secured our producer as well, so as soon as it's official, I'll let you know.

We also just did a week in New York. That trip was an opportunity to have some very focused time with our record company, as well as do some songwriting in a different environment. Lots of fun was had, got the chance to have some great meals. We are very VERY fortunate to have an exceptionally cool and smart A & R person (David Wolter), as well as a CEO (Matt Serletic) who thinks IMA Robot is part of the key to his label's future. We'll see if we can live up to that.

We've recently moved into a rehearsal place in North Hollywood that is serving as our central HQ...it's pretty damn nice for the money, so we're stoked. Plus there is Michocan close by - some of the best Mexican food in the Valley.

I guess that's it. By the way, I'm going to see about getting some other photos together that may be useful to the gallery. See you at the shows, I hope.

JMJ

Wow, I didn't even want to respond to this as it would knock JMJ's post off the front page! We should have taken a screen shot for posterity's sake. Thanks for all the positive comments--this site is gradually picking up steam as IMA Robot fans find us and those whispers about the band turn into widespread buzz. I think our friends may think "IMA Robot" is a pseudonym for "Amway," because we've been spreading the word to everyone (most surreal moment: pitching IMA Robot to Craig from the Vines on their tour bus) on a pretty constant basis.

Great to hear things are working out so well with Virgin. FYI to readers--Matt Serletic has an incredibly good reputation in the industry for being a creative CEO, that is, a CEO with good taste! That he has singled out IMA Robot bodes well for the band. All I know about David Wolter is his work with the Gorillaz early on, another visionary group but hopefully IMA Robot will continue playing live and not as animated characters!

Thanks again Justin and we hope to hear from you (and Tim and Alex and Ollie and Joey) more in the future, even if it is just short blurbs of information. We can live off of that for weeks here!

Its great to see that things are getting under-way. I suppose Ive got quite a wait until I'll see you in the UK, but i can't wait! I like this healthy positive vibe that's going around about the band - good times are ahead.

Take care :P

I'm so stoked.

Yes this site was once a "simple one-page jammy", but we've always wanted it to be a place for all the fans to get and share information about the band, so just as the buzz with the band grows and spreads we hope that the site follows suit. It's getting there. I believe that there are some more exciting things to come with the site. Especially as the buzz that surrounds Ima Robot spreads.

JMJ, I'm glad that you found that "animal" that you were looking for on drums!

I can't wait for the shows on the 11th and the 18th

Classic imarobot.net

Ah, while looking back through those ancient posts all the way back from July of 2002, I noticed this thread:
http://www.imarobot.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=40

And no, I wasn't getting cutbacks from Joey Waronker for the comment in there, but...hmmn, maybe that's something I should look into...
