Finally! Some good concert karma out there. If you can, try to stop in during The Music's set. They play an interesting blend of Led Zep and dance music, and the lead singer is quite spastic.

There's so much good stuff in that list! Radiohead AND Beck...how will you be able to contain yourself?

Not to mention Beth Orton, Underworld, and Felix da Housecat! I'd be just as excited to see them...

Just need Ima Robot to join in now!

That website is down now, I guess it was leaked prematurely.

I love the one The Music song I've heard... I was wondering if the rest of the album was any good too.

You've probably heard "Take The Long Road." Their other songs have a similar wailing nature but are really much better appreciated live as the sonic envelope they are known to create doesn't really translate on CD. I chatted with the guitarist last weekend when we were at the Vines show in Vegas (The Music opened) and was struck by how little he knew about current artists--he hadn't heard of most of the Coachella acts and was currently listening to a lot of Van Morrison. They have some nice classic rock roots for a bunch of English boys.

I think I am going to put together a list based upon the theory that some of your favorite acts are going to be opposite each other and make you choose. For example, Liz Phair or the Polyphonic Spree?

Yes, we can test your theory now on both coasts! You can check it at Coachella and I'll try to check it here. Then it can be written up and submitted to journals for publication.

When I saw your list of artists, I thought for sure you were pulling our collective legs. This is for real? :o Let me know when they pick a "cleared for landing" site for this.

Ah crap... this was on a Radiohead news site this morning:

Green Plastic was contacted by Andrew Dreskin, who is the organizer behind the Field Day Music Festival that is scheduled to take place this June in Riverhead, NY. Dreskin said that "info on bands playing (the festival) floating around out there is mostly wrong." An announcement will be made on April 14th regarding the festival and the lineup. Radiohead is rumored to be headlining but so far nothing official has been announced. Stay tuned...

So what are the odds, in your opinion? 70%? 80%? Radiohead have to promote their album somehow!

Vin I was meaning to ask you, since you're the big Kula Shakur fan--which album was it that was worth getting from them? I vaguely remember some discussion where one album they did was crap but another was really good.

Well, they the sites I pull this from are Radiohead sites, and one other seems fairly certain RH will be there. What's uncertain now I think is what the rest of the lineup will be... will it be Beck and Beth and all them too?

Yea, Kula Shaker. Their first album, K, is the good one. Their second album isn't so good. I don't remember what it was called... it had a purple-y cover. They broke up after that one. K is neat, kind of hippie-ish hard rock with an Indian influence.

So now I have another decision to make. I've had my Field Day tix for Saturday for awhile... Beck, Radiohead, Beth Orton, My Morning Jacket, Spiritualized, Raveonettes, Tortoise.

But it seems now there's been some permit mess and Field Day will no longer be two stages in a big field (i.e., kinda fun), but they are moving it to reserved seating in a football stadium (i.e., NO FUN AT ALL).

I'm thinking of screwing it, getting my refund, and going to see Beck in Philly tomorrow (or Albany on Sunday) instead. But the festival IS still Beck and Radiohead on the same stage (as well as some of the Sunday lineup I was initially not going to see).

Arrrgh what to do? I can't decide.

That is a tough one. I think I personally would go to Philly instead. I cannot stand large concerts in football stadia.

Any chance you will be able to go see the Stripes/Ima Robot in NYC?

Yea I'm a-leaning towards going to see Beck again. I really want to see Radiohead, asap. It is a smaller Beck show in Philly too, which is a plus. And Dashboard won't be there either! :)

There is a chance at the Stripes/Robot, but right now it's small... I'm planning on going home to California at the end of July / early August!

But can you get a ticket for Beck at this late hour (for either Philly or Albany)? And whoa..you're talking more than a puddle jump to drive to PA.

Yeah, too bad about the move to the stadium. I had gone to the Coliseum years ago to see the Amnesty International benefit. Great people on the bill, but it felt like, had it been possible, I might as well have been home watching them on tv.

Yea, I just got my Philly ticket! The show was added really late (just last week), so it hadn't sold out. And from what I understand, many of the shows on the tour aren't selling too great. Albany would have been a lot easier to get to. But I've never been to Philly, and it's a much smaller show (only 2000 people). And Dashboard Confessional is NOT opening! :)

I'm really interested in seeing what happens to the crowd post-Black Keys pre-Dashboard at the Minneapolis show. I have already informed my erudite colleagues that we will be socializing in the foyer during that time.

Nice job on the ticket grab, Captain. Are there seats or is it GA?

p.s. I just got in from seeing "Spellbound." Such a funny movie. My favorite part is when they insert a shot of the marquee outside one of the kids' hometown Hooters restaurants, it says "Congradulations to (name of kid)" with the spelling just so.

It's general admission. Really, if I'd put any thought/planning into this at all, I'd have just gone to Albany instead.

Oh well, after the show, I can drive all night, C***** D*** style.

And this after I just drove to and from Toronto!

I'm dying to see Spellbound!

Whooooooooo I just got back! I was front and center, Poobs! It was a really fun show. Very very similar to the Boston one, but the venue was better, general admission, packed warehouse (not that the Boston venue was bad, mind you). "Beercan" was amazing! I didn't spend too much time in Philly, but I got to see one of my oldest friends. On the way back, I stopped at Princeton to look around. I never want to drive anywhere again--

last Sunday - 500 miles to Toronto
Tuesday - 500 miles back from Toronto
yesterday - 300 miles to Philly
today - 300 miles back from Philly

I'm wiped! :)

I am so happy that Beercan is showing up on these set lists, can't wait for the Minneapolis concert next Thursday.

Front and center? Poobs will be proud of you. What a crazy trip. Don't know if you are a picture-taker, but please post some if you have them.

I do have pics of my trips (not of the concert though, they were searching). Just a couple in Toronto, a bunch in Niagara Falls, a bunch at Princeton, and a few random ones as I drove. I will put them up this weekend.

A couple of people on the Beck BBS said they took pictures of the show in Philly. I don't know how they did it, I was searched pretty close! And there was a giant sign by the door saying "no cameras / recording devices / etc." I could've got some good ones in there!

Anyways, they're not as exciting as front row Beck concert photos, but here's a few pics I took. This one is just outside Buffalo:

Toronto, one of my favorite places:

This is Niagara Falls:

Betsy Ross' house:

Some cool looking building at Princeton:

I got stuck in a traffic jam somewhere in eastern Connecticut:

I keep expecting to see a grinning gnome peering back out of those pictures.

Niagara Falls looks less daunting than I would have predicted.
