Update re: Coachella, Spaceland, etc.

Hi everyone,

Justin here...haven't been around in quite a while, so I thought I'd drop an update:

Joey and I just got back from a tour with Beck of Japan and Australia. It was a great (if sentimental) tour - really fun, great music, wonderful rapport with the rest of our buddies out there. But we're psyched to be home and get the IMA machine turning in earnest.

Anyway, here's the deal regarding the album: We've been doing some "experiments" in the studio and trying different versions on songs, trying different mixes, etc. Album will be officially in the can in about 2 weeks, because that's when we are booked for mastering - that's the point of no return, which is a good thing. It's sounding GREAT.

We are so thrilled to be doing the Coachella festival, and there has been a time and day change for us there. We are NOT playing on Saturday the 26th, we are now playing the 27th, SUNDAY.

Our time on Sunday is 2:35PM, in the Mohave Tent, doing about a 40 - 45 minute set. After Coachella, we're going to get in gear for some possible shows in May or June locally, and perhaps abroad as well. More info forthcoming.

The April Spaceland and Viper Room shows have been cancelled (since we're playing Coachella, we're under contractual obligation not to do shows so close to that date).

But there is more good stuff to come, and we're all excited about getting busy. I'll make sure one of us keeps the updates coming as soon as we have a confirmation on any activity.

Best,
Justin

p.s. Attached photo is Joey and I at soundcheck - Budokan Arena, Tokyo, April 1st.

Lots of great news packed in that post, thanks JMJ!

We are trying to coordinate with those of you who are planning on attending Sunday's Coachella lineup so that some stickers and fliers can be distributed on the sly. There's a rule, actually, against doing so. But we figure it will be easy to transport smaller amounts in with more people rather than one person getting an entire stash confiscated.

The new mixes are a terrific idea--maybe some B-sides will come from these sessions, as well?

Looking forward to more news!

Very cool!

Justin, last time you posted, you mentioned your people were hoping for a May or June record release. Since that's coming up soon, can we assume it's been pushed back a bit? Any possible time frame you can let us know about?

How surprised were you when you met a couple of Ima Robot fans down in Australia? :)

Justin, great to hear things are going so well!

Non-local shows sure sound exciting. May I suggest the Field Day Fest in NY? Or maybe a stop in Toronto?

Thanks for the update.
