Heard the boys on KXLU XMAS week...(2002)

Just wanted to say HI to everyone, and mention how I heard IMA Robot on KXLU XMAS week while canvasing in LA. It was sooo cool. I've missed being on here, but I'll be back next week with home movies of the latest adventures. Looks like I've missed quite a few shows(Damn!), but the New Year looks great, and I hope everyone had a great holiday season.

Laters!

Dude I thought you were dead or something. How's the new job?

And what did you hear on KXLU about the band? Give us the details!

New job/dream/lifestyle/purpose in life/etc. is going unfuckingbelievable. Week before XMAS decided to do some canvasing around LA, and run into Johnnie Cochrans' assistant in an elevator(the fine chick from the trial) we chat, she's expecting, and looked radiant. Hop in the ride, and cruisin down the street next to the black dude from "Airplane"(over, unger, dunn, huh?), then all of a sudden IMA Robot comes on just to add to one of the most trippy days I've ever had. It was "Loaded Love", but a mix that wasn't my favorite, but still...

Hey Brandon, I'm in Redlands right now, for a few more days. I don't have much time though because some cousins are in town, or I'd give you a call. Are you still based here or no? Glad to hear about the job!

Anyone else know the Beck connection with Airplane? ;)

Hey Vin,

I'm in Rancho Cucamonga, and it looks like this might turn out to be a gathering. I'll keep you posted.

The little kid who makes fun of Kareem, and gets asked all those questions by the pilot ("have you ever seen a grown man naked?" is none other than Ross Harris... aka The Enchanting Wizard of Rhythm on "Hotwax"...

No way! I heard the original recording that that was sampled from in a thrift store last year. But I had no idea it was the kid from Airplane. Obscure fact, Vin!

It was stolen from that Mandrill record, but not actually sampled. Ross re-spoke it for Beck. They're old friends. Story is he used to own a record store called Folk You! and Beck took his tapes of Banjo Story there in the early 90s, to give away to customers.

He's a musician too. DJMeDJYou has done remixes for Beck, and his band Sukia opened some shows for Beck before. And he had a GREAT song in Southlander called "Piano Drop" (under the name Ross Angeles). Last I looked, you could download it from djmedjyou.com. If not, I'll host it up for you guys when I get back... it's really a cool song.

Incidentally, we heard from KXLU that Ima Robot was in their studio last spring, they left a CD with five songs on it and the station has been playing some of these intermittently since. It's the first known radio airing of Ima Robot songs, leave it to Neuwave to be the first to report!

Hey dude, djmedjyou.com is not a valid address. I am still trying to find Ross Harris' cool tune "Piano Drop". No luck. Any more suggestions? Thanks! Oh, I wonder if Ross ever saw a grown man naked? Later

Wha? I'm confused. BBS's seem to be mixing. :D

Let me see if I can find the mp3... I've switched computers since last year, but I think I have it somewhere... I'll put it up for you if I can find it...

I wonder what happened to djmedjyou.com -- it was a real cool website. :(

Yes, finally after a year, and 2 months sorry for the delay. Damn! He IS the Enchanted Wizard of Rhythm. The beat on Stolen Bike is sick, and Ross Angeles has to be by far the coolest name ever concocted (lucky dog). With my name I think I could only go with Raisin Bran.

"What the fuck is the matter with Truck?
Did he get fired from Beck and loose his Nut?
What the fuck is the matter with Truck?
His emails bounce back and hit me in the Butt!
When the fuck will truck be back?
If anyone knows, this will be the first out if my story sack"
