I'm a big fan of The Hives. Their sound is more consistent in that they update the same style of garage rock (I know they hate to be referred to
as a garage rock band but for taxonomic purposes it is the best fit) in almost all of their songs.
Their new album is supposed to be a departure, but I don't know how much deviation that implies. A couple more ballads? Pushing the bass and
drums back and bringing guitar up? I have no idea. But all their previous work has that classic manic energy packed into the confines of three or
four chords, which is really visceral.
I think Ima Robot's sound is way more musical and layered, though in some of their tracks they do pick up on that visceral simplicity. Song #1
being an example.

listen to 'hear come the bombs' and right at the end, it goes 'RUN FOR COVER!!'
it may aswell be the hives lead singer singing it. it makes me laugh every time.

you know what, a bit of the backing vocals (I don't now who's) reminds me a bit on the hives backing vocals, and they both have lots of
energy. but thats about it, much diffrent music really. I still say nope.
