Myspace, etc.
Hi,
I'm new to this whole thing, but Filip went to our Myspace site and put up a little video montage he put together from the Duran Duran tour;
pretty neat, god bless 'im!
http://www.myspace.com/imarobotband
We're all very happy, exploring yet another batch of songwriting up at Alex's where we now rehearse AND record at the same time. We used
to record our demos over at Tim's studio and my studio, and we used to have a dedicated rehearsal studio in North Hollywood, but that got
expensive, especially when we realized Alex's new house has a very large and viable rehearsal/recording room in it. So now we do most
everything there, except for whatever each of us do at our home studios either to add ideas to an existing demo or to start a new idea....this
includes Filip and Scott, who now both have hi-tech little computer recording setups too! We're stoked.
We loved Spaceland, gotta do it again. We're desperately trying to organize another quality show but to try and ensure that it's all ages.
We'll keep you posted ahead of the curve.
What else? let's see: Zelly is doing awesome, she's learning how to laugh now, and making lots of other great vocalizations. The wife and
I aren't sleeping a lot, but who cares? Every evening we take her for walks around the neighborhood and she's really getting off on seeing
all the people, flowers, trees, cats, dogs, cars, etc. I'm working with Black Eyed Peas and Macy Gray right now on some shit, it's going
good. The Garbage record just came out, I'm stoked for them, that was a very satisfying project for me. Beck's record is in the Top 5
for two weeks in a row, he's over the moon. He's doing SNL this Saturday, definitely check it out. Oh, and just a tidbit for any music
nerds who care...you may have noticed that my ol' Gibson Thunderbird was put aside at Spaceland for those that were there...well, I'm a long
time endorser of Fender basses, and now my guy there is helping me put together a custom Fender Jazz bass similar to the one I was playing at
Spaceland; so that's been fun to work out with them. They got sick of seeing me play a Gibson, especially since I have a real relationship with
Fender lasting almost 10 years, and not so much with Gibson. So I gave them a challenge to build me an instrument that sounds and plays better than
my T-Bird, which so far seems to be going well. Also, we bought Filip a cool new keyboard that him and Alex are painting and decorating. It's
even wearing glasses! Tim's got one good guitar, all the rest are busted from Warped/Spaceland/Duran Duran/Sunset Junction. So he's
getting his shit worked over. This kind of gear stuff is all good to do in this time just before heading into the studio in earnest to start cutting
this record.
What else? Well, we like snacking. And we tend to eat a lot of ice cream, except for Alex, who eats soy ice cream, and Scott, who just doesn't
seem to eat ice cream at all. So I guess I'm just talking about me, Filip and Tim. And Filip and Tim are consistently doing plenty of DJ gigs
around LA, usually once or twice a week, sometimes separately and sometimes together. I know Filip played an X-Large party last night. Anyway,
I'll try and make them keep you posted about that in case you want to go out and dance to their madness. We're all probably going to go see
the new Star Wars movie together, though it'll probably be wack just like the last two, but we're suckers for an ill preview. Is it going
to suck, or is there hope for some redemption?
See you!
Much love,
JMJ

I'm glad everything's going swimmingly for you all. Thanks for always updating us, Justin. It means a lot. Oh, and that video is sweet.
unfortunately it put us in this situation where we had to abandon a lot of babies, you know?

Yr welcome Evil! Hopefully someday all these updates will actually mean something and I won't be just going "yeah, we're
writing"...and I can say "we're recording", or "our album's done!" Oh well...sometimes these things are slower,
especially when a record company has a vested interest.
By the way: those lyrics are actually "doctor doctor, can you find a cure? Face like angel, heart like whore". :-)
Best,
JMJ

Damn..That was an awesome look into the lives of Ima Robot! Thanks for the updates, Justin! Any word is always welcome..It sounds like you're
keeping busy, but like the cool dad you are, you're still spending that quality time with little Zelly..She's a lucky girl..There is nothing
like hearing your baby's laugh for the first time..It's one of the sweetest noises in the world..Maybe you guys can incorporate some of her
little noises on the next album!!
Can't wait to see some of these new instruments at a show! The myspace page is really sweet..I dig the colors..Oh..And the new Star Wars looks
killer! My son is literally counting down the days..Feel free to give a review after the screening! Thanks again for the updates! Oh..And a tiny
update of my own..My mom is STILL dating Jeff Lynne..Crazy stuff.. :D

I can't believe there's this great JMJ post up there and all I can focus on is Poobs' mom dating Jeff Lynne. I am a closet ELO fan (is
there any other kind?) so this is very exciting to me.
I will miss the Thunderbird--it's the bass I always associate with JMJ, ah well, perhaps it can be put away for Zelly to use when she's
older and touring with Elton John. :D
Also thankful for the Snack Updates. Feel free to keep those coming. If a bag of Gardetto's inspires the next Ima Robot hit, I am all for it.

Jeff Lynne? Otis Wilbury himself? Cool.
Is it me, or are the only clips of JMJ in that video of him eating?
Looking forward to the IMA Robot Star Wars review!

Well, the only reason I mentioned it is because I told Justin that Jeff knew of Ima Robot and mentioned him and Joey specifically..

That's so cool. You know I'm really wondering how this will affect the industry in the future. I've been trying to do the little
"Robin Hood" thing by setting people up with their own little recording systems, but the problem is them figuring out how to use them.
"OI" the phone calls, and the follow-up. Takes time I guess. It will happen. Thanks for the heads-up on SNL tonight.

I can't remember what happened when they came with the white stripes, I think I was out of town. When they played with the sounds it was 19+ and
I was 18(couldnt sneak in, I am almost 20 and I look like I am 16). When the came for warped I was out of town again(Mexico) and when they played
with Duran Duran it was sold out(I think), I had no money and I hate duran duran.
