Another Odd Movie to Watch

Anyone here see the movie Reconstruction? It was released a while back (I saw a long time ago at a special screening at Universal, but it just recently became available to rent. This was a really odd foreign film, but quite good at the same time. The cinematography was excellent, up there with Lost in Translation and Eternal Sunshine...I like how certain writers are really taking a new twist on the love story, another bond to those other movies.

This film really echoed some of David Lynch's earlier work as well, kind of dark with a photographic quality to some of the scenes. Plus, some bizarre things happen to the protagonist, like his apartment disappearing. Anyone have another opinion on this movie or even see it yet?

No, but I will request it at Cinema Revolution, my new favorite place to rent flicks--

They special-ordered the Flaming Lips documentary for me, on request, sweet!

I seem to like documentaries better than action movies. It's like seeing inside the actual persons life and stuff.:)

I'll keep an eye out for this too Lost. Only thing I've seen lately are a couple Ramones docs. Got a DVD performance of the Doors reunion with Ian Astbury up front. That was pretty cool. I definitely rely on other people for my cinema diet.

C'mon, when was the last time Palm Pictures put out something that sucked. I really like their documentaries, too, that's kinda their bread and butter. I saw Dig! to and thought that was great, especially if you'd played/toured with a rock band before.

It was only time before the big dogs started releasing "independent-like" films, like Searchlight and Focus Features. I really don't mind though, they put out great movies made by extremely talented people. Eternal Sunshine was odd and a bit out there, too, but a great movie at the same time. Basically indie films with big names and full-scale distribution.

I guess Reconstruction doesn't really have the comedic element of ESOTSM, but makes up for it with its moody feel and great camera work. You likely won't have the urge to hurt me, but don't anyway, I'm a fragile boy.
