Ima Robot Still Infectious!
Ima Robot Still Infectious; Not like JMJ and Alex were spreading disease across the land (they did appear to have recovered from all their sicknesses
pretty well), but they have that sound that you can really never get enough of. You know what I mean?
I’m going to make this quick as time is limited. What an interesting night. Dog Fashion Disco opened up the evening and I must say that aggression,
pain, and anarchy sum up their style. It was pretty deranged. The only lyric I recall is something about “mutilated genitals," if that wasn’t bad
enough they had to show it up on the video screen behind them. Pleasant dreams for me. Anyway that sets up the crowd that was there (actually the
crowd was actually more there for Mindless Self Indulgence.)
Ima Robot came on a little after 9PM. Not sure how completely psyched the band was about playing to a crowd that was really there for MSI. I have to
give the guys credit--they really rocked the place. On my way out, many of the MSI fans were talking about and asking questions about Ima Robot. The
power of the 'Bot! I really think that they dug it, maybe not in a MSI way but, you know, in a Ima Robot way. Just such good music.
If you weren’t there this is what you missed out on:
1) Song #1
2) Dynomite
3) Sex Symbols on Parade
4) Twist & Shout
5) Here Come the Bombs
6) Ages of Ruin
7) Doctors
8) Alive
9) New Negatives
No encore. From my understanding the guys had some sound difficulties and I think they just wanted to cut it short. I’m not sure any of the crowd
noticed so much, but I think it made it difficult for the band when they couldn’t get it just like they like it. Actually, everyone I spoke with was
might impressed, so I don't believe the technical difficulties got in the way of their enjoyment.
I’ll clean this up later; right now I have to head to sleep. I’ll add some pics to the photo gallery over the weekend. If you were at the show and
took some, please upload them to the photo gallery!

Only thing I noticed about the sound was that one of the guys asked for the keyboards and singer\'s mic volume up, which he obliged... but then eased
both back down till the singing was drowned out by the end of the set. Too bad; great vocals. Vocals reminded me of Andi Sex Gang of Sex Gang
Children, which may've been a big reason why they were accepted so readily by the audience.
I\'m one the folks [older than fourteen] who went to the show solely for MSI. Took a couple songs to warm up to Ima Robot, but by the third song, I
was lovin\' it. Favourite was probably the one that went \"blah blah blah ice is thawing blah blah\" which I think must\'ve been Ages of Ruin?
How can you get ahold of some of their music? Albums? mp3s?

Yeah, that's Ages of Ruin. "I'm always crackin' up when the ice is falling down, she said--" GREAT, highly dramatic song that begs for a fish
flopping around at the end of the video a la Faith No More.
I will check out Sex Gang Children. The one I always hear Alex compared to is Geddy Lee.
They won't have an album out until next year, unfortunately, it's driving everyone here nuts. But stick around this site, they're doing another show
in November (in L.A.).
