Oleander --> Scott Devours

http://communities.canada.com/theprovince/blogs/kurtenblog/archive/2008/01/30/sad-songs-say-so-much-about-the-current-canucks-slump.aspx

I knew this was Scott Devours old band...but I didn't know...if you know what I mean...

Quote:

Orland Kurtenblog, aka the KB, is written by Jason Brough and Mike Halford. It’s mostly about the Vancouver Canucks and can be found on the interweb. You can contact the KB at kurtenblog(at)yahoo.ca.
Sad Songs Say So Much...About The Current Canucks Slump

The KB is not here to bore you with statistical details regarding the latest Canucks slide (but, for purely educational purposes, we will mention that they've lost five of their past six, and are 1-17-1 when trailing after 40 minutes).

What we can do, however, is provide a soundtrack for January's crappy hockey blues. While these aren't submissions for the GM Place Music Automaton, they'll still provide Canuck fans an appropriate outlet for their frustrations. You know, versus yelling "shoooooooooot" for the entire power play.

Oleander, "Why I'm Here"

"It's the reason why I'm down,
I'm beaten, been pushed around."

A nod to Vancouver's injury-plagued defensive corps. Lukas Krajicek, Willie Mitchell and Kevin Bieksa are all shelved, the latter having already missed 37 games this season with a lacerated calf. All told, Canuck defencemen have now lost 70 games to injury this year.

Here's hoping the Canucks fare better than Oleander; just four years after releasing their most successful single, the band took what now appears to be a permanent hiatus...and the drummer ditched them in favor of Ima Robot. Ouch.
