One Two Oh My God - Minneapolis
Another stepped-up performance from Ima Robot, back in the US after their London dates and playing in front of the painfully indiecentric crowd that
makes up most Minneapolis shows. Still, amazed that Alex and the crew were able to get the crowd going at 5:30pm on a dreary, freezing cold Minnesota
day.
As STD Dance just reached #4 on Radio K am 770's Top 7 this week, and the show had been heavily promoed, there was a sizable crowd to enjoy this
one. The people who left after Ima Robot really missed out, since Kill Hannah and The Sounds were both on fire and fit reasonably well with Ima
Robot's sound. Lots of synth in the latter, and a pretty dedicated fanbase present to bounce along to all the songs. Both bands were a pleasant
surprise.
Spoke with most of the guys after, though JMJ had retreated to the bus to feed, as is the custom of most nocturnal mammals. Got some tableau photos
with Timmy teaching me how to hit a backhand, Oligee schooling me on how to throw a football, and Alex pretending to put me into a tiny little box.
Yes, they are being sent to phobes now so he can put them up and you can all do the Snaggletooth laugh to them.
Here's the setlist. The end of Song #1 now includes (or at least did at this performance) some crazy guttural yelling by JMJ and I think Tim.
Pretty standard set, but I gotta say, they are playing things so tightly these days and so crisp and clean that they are probably the best third on
the bill act that anyone on this tour will ever hear. Except for the West Coasters, who will get Kill Hannah first, followed by Ima Robot, and then
The Sounds. Stay for the whole show, gang!
1) Song #1
2) Dirty Life
3) A Is For Action
4) Alive
5) STD Dance
6) Dynomite
7) Black Jettas
8) Scream
9) 12=3
10) Bombs
oh yeah and when asked AGAIN about playing the b-sides live, I was told that they might break those out soon. Everyone's looking forward to the
El Rey show.
And got the feedback that the Henry Fonda gig was a "life changing experience" for them. Count me in on that one. From Ages of Ruin on,
that thing was a manic joy to behold and it's awesome to hear that the band was feeling what we in the audience had the pleasure to experience.

thanks. yup i was...paid dearly for it before the show too. i was the one to the far left as you look at the stage, getting pushed in front of the
barrier. it was kind of bad though because it was a horrible angle for pictures, but oh well.
where were you?
and just to warn you guys, if you see this i apologize for the shitty quality i expected to replace it with a better shot but never did but at least it's something, amusing to say the least. i was lucky - they
tried to kick my friend out for having a video camera...

I wrangled my way up to the front right side, directly in front of the speakers, to snap some photos, but then was about four people back on that side
for the rest.
Phobes will get a kick out of whatever video you have, at the very least he can turn it into moving avatars.

Yeah, what's up with that! :wow:
What was going on at that show?
It's funny, cuz every photo drac tried to act out is competely different than what she was trying to do.
Being squeezed into a little box?
