New Hives
Just picked this up yesterday. If you thought Ima Robot's album was short, welcome to The Hives' 30-minute CD. I like most of the songs so
far, though none have quite the power of some of the Veni Vidi Vicious stormers.
It's way more cleanly-produced, however. Which is interesting for them. And I swear I hear synth in some of the songs. Will have to live with
this album a while and see what happens. Anyone seeing them on this tour?

Then make sure you get B Is For Brutus and See Through Head -- my two faves thus far!

I have 2 other Hives CD's and love them, but when I saw the new video for the "idiot..." song I wasn't to impressed. It lacks a
little and they're such a cool band. Their other stuff was a bit more punky. Let us know what you think of their new CD Turtle.....

Abra Cadaver could also have been a better first single.

I've never seen them live before, but I'm gonna see them August 1st in San Fran! :D
To those of you who've seen them live before: is the crowd really rough (moreso than other bands)? Or is it pretty much like any other show?
I've been to enough concerts to handle the pushing and swaying as long as I'm against the barrier. It does get pretty rough, but I have no
idea if The Hives audience will be even rougher than I'm used to.

A bit rough, but The Hives play at such a breakneck pace, no one can jump up and down in rhythm for more than a few beats before the whole thing goes
to shit. Everyone's actually quite mild-mannered, and Pelle runs the show.

One of the tracks, I think the second, is straight off of a Devo song--Jerkin' Back And Forth. Someone agree with me!

after the second listen, i have to say it's another jump-around-in-your-room-record, and of course there are synths! and i think walk idiot walk
is a very good song! i also like broken bones and love in plaster and antidote.
will this tyrannosaurus stand the long-term test, too? we'll see. for now it's hot!
haha.. somehow thought of 'temple of love' when i heard 'love in plaster'

I just read the new Spin, which has a cover story on the Hives, and wouldn't you know it, they lifted some Devo not for song 2 but for song 3 (I
still maintain there are similarities between Broken Bones and Jerkin' Back and Forth) -- they claim a riff straight offa Freedom of Choice.
Must play repeatedly.
p.s. I am loving this CD more and more

They rock...of course
Just listened to their CD yesterday, and I'd say that this CD is better than the previous one. See Through Head is so hilarious. It is worth
the buy.

Oh gee, haha, thanks! How do you know I'm new? Is it because I don't have a picture? Because I don't have a picture and I don't
know how to get one. Being a no0b sucks.
