JMJ and Joey with Beck on SNL

They'll be backing Beck during his performance on Saturday Night Live February 15. Whether they have tickets booked on flights to Australia and Japan this spring is still anyone's guess. Since it sounds like Ima Robot will be in post-production during that time, I would think it would at least be a possibility?

Yea I was wondering that about Australia too. It looks like the tour of Australia / Japan probably won't be more than a couple of weeks, right? So hopefully he can nab JMJ and Justin for a bit.

I am trying to convince Phobiac to blow, like, a million frequent flier miles and get us to Tokyo over my spring break.

 That last question mark is hilarious poobs.

Pretty much the same over here. I think I'm gonna finally make another batch of these Ghiradelli brownies, because I bot this big ole box of it at Sams' Club like 6 months ago, and only made 2 batches so far, and have 2 left. Just recently a set of rogue, militia, navy seal, ants decided they were going to invade the fridge in the garage, and disarm me of my Ghirardelli brownie mix, but my top military advisor(mother :D) unleashed a whirlwind of chemical, and biological weapons on them (bug spray :D) thwarting all danger to our brownie mix.

Damn, as I wrote that, the metaphors came flooding in(could the brownie mix be oil?). As long as life doesn't imitate art in this instance. And looking back on my mispelling of "bought", I'll leave it there for its' appropriateness.

I know that industrial-sized brownie mix box, having enjoyed its splendor in the past. The key is to always let it know you're in charge.

Similarly, I just made a white chocolate cream / blueberry pie.

My Valentine's Day will consist of sending "Can you smell the VD in the club tonight?" messages to friends, and watching Kobe Bryant score 45 points on the Spurs.

And how did your "Earth Wind & Fire" creation turn out?

Great! I just had a slice for breakfast, and it's YUMMY! Mmm. The recipe said to chill it and I left it in the fridge overnight, but I think it was still too soft. So I may freeze it tonight and see how that tastes. This was a test run, fortunately. Next time I also think I need to make more of the white chocolate cream too, I would've liked to taste that a little more. I wasn't happy with the blueberry selection at the store, so I just went with pre-made filling too.

I was getting some supplies at the PC Club in Westwood, and there's a restaurant next to it called "Earth, Wind, and Flour". I thought that was pretty cool. Italian food I think. Can't be bad with a name like that.;)

Oh I've been to Earth, Wind & Flour when I was at UCLA. If I remember right, it's more pasta than specifically Italian, though there was pizza and stuff too. Decent place, I guess.

So, any thoughts on the SNL performance? I thought it was great to see Justin and Joey on stage again with Beck, and had a chuckle over the matching hue (at least on my tv) of Beck's pink stripes and Justin's pink shirt :D Color coordinating these days, are we?

Tonight's the Letterman performance. As much as I love Lost Cause, I'm hoping he'll play something else, just for a change.

I would like "Guess I'm Doing Fine" again. Beck had only ever played that song solo acoustically during the Lips' tour (except once, which I haven't heard), so it was cool to hear it with a band.

Though basically, yea I'd just like something not "Lost Cause" for once. Maybe a "Sunday Sun" would be great for an audience of people who aren't Beck fans.

I love Guess I'm Doing Fine for sure, but it would be nice to hear him do something that he didn't already do on SNL..But maybe it's the next single, so he has to get it out there..I would love to see Sunday Sun as well..Or maybe he should just bust out with his rendition of Erotic City!!:D

Unfortunately, I missed SNL. What did he sing? I would like to hear something other than "Lost Cause". Still waitin for "End of the Day", but nah maybe that should be my reason to going back, and listening to the CD.

Anyway, the reason I missed the show was because I went to pay respects to a friend who passed away on New Years Day, and visit the house that he burned in. Don't know if Vin, Jersey, and Drac remember last year when I went to a party, and saw Johnny Knoxville hopping a wall, but that party was at Royce Applegates' house, and I just recently found out through the grapevine(must've missed that news report), that his house burned down after having his annual "New Years Eve" party... :( (he was a very cool dude too). He was really knowledgeable with computers, and into his Macintosh. His death was mentioned in the Washington Post also. :o

Royce Applegate

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Royce Applegate, a veteran film and TV character actor and co-star of the sci-fi series “SeaQuest DSV,” died Jan. 1 in a fire at his home. He was 64.

Applegate was found dead on New Year's Day after flames swept through the three-story home atop the Hollywood Hills. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

An autopsy was performed but a finding on the cause of Applegate's death was deferred until the results of toxicology tests were known, coroner's spokesman David Campbell said.

Applegate's entertainment career spanned more than 30 years. He made guest appearances on TV shows including “Charlie's Angels,” “Dallas” “Little House on the Prairie” and “Home Improvement.”

He played Chief Manilow Crocker in the early 1990s TV series “SeaQuest DSV,” which followed a crew trying to keep underwater peace as mankind colonized the oceans. The series also starred Roy Scheider and Michael Ironside.

Applegate appeared in such films as “Splash,” “History of the World: Part I,” “Gettysburg” and most recently “The Rookie.” Applegate is scheduled to appear in two films this year, including “Talking In Your Sleep” and “Gods and Generals,” in which he plays Civil War Brig. Gen. James L. Kemper. He played the same role in “Gettysburg.'

OK now you've all seen it, don't you agree? That was a ripping "Sunday Sun"!

The beautiful acoustic versions from last summer are still my favorite, so at first I didn't like how they were doing it, but then they showed a close-up of Joey, and they started rocking out--completely surprised me. I love it when Beck surprises me.

I cannot report in on this yet, as this performance is *hopefully* on tape in my VHS machine. Unlike the first night's performance on Letterman. I taped the show...until 12:30 AM. D'oh :( Therefore, the machine shut off right before Beck took the stage. I'm hoping I caught this Sunday Sun. Can't wait to see it.

And Neuwave - I'm really sorry about your friend and the fire. It's awful.

Wow, and tonight Beck and gang are going to be on Conan O'Brien! I guess he's hanging out in NYC until the Grammys? He's certainly making his visit pay off with all these TV spots! What'll be tomorrow? Jon Stewart? Ricki Lake?

Neuwave, I remember the Johnny Knoxville story. You weren't at the part on New Years, were you?

I know Kyle got the Beck performances on Tivo, but he doesn't get back from Japan until Friday to put them all up. He did, however, pick me up a copy of Sea Change with the elusive track 13 on it! And the old B-sides import, yay!
