East Coast Tour With Raveonettes

The speculation has ended--Ima Robot is booked to tour with The Raveonettes for an East Coast tour.

The dates are being added to the Tour page, but here they are again:

12/7 - Continental - Buffalo, NY
12/9 - Club Metronome - Burlington, VT
12/10 - Century Lounge - Providence RI
12/11 - Pearl St. - Northhampton, MA
12/12 - Bowery Ballroom - NYC
12/13 - Fletchers - Baltimore, MD

Super-mad-freak edit! Just added:
12/15 - The Brick - Kansas City, MO

Drac or Phobiac,

Any official word on the rumored Long Beach show December 18? All the info I got out of Alex last night was the date; he was unsure of the venue.

Argh, that's the worst week for me! And if this Long Beach rumor is true, it's 2 days before I get back to So. Cal...

PS. I believe you mean Northampton, MA... not VT.

Long Beach Show In December

Well I got word from Tim and Scott that on either December 18 or 19, they are going to play a party at this wherehouse called The Space. From what I heard it's where the drummer lives.

From THE OC WEEKLY:

"It was off to Long Beach’s The Space for a party that was frighteningly full of people who had not dressed in theme (it kind of makes you feel for the Club Rubber guys, who claimed that people weren’t really trying anymore). The Space’s theme? Come as your favorite TV character. So while there was a fab Eddie Munster, a sexy Cher, and a very tall Flying Nun, most of the hundreds upon hundreds of people just looked like Santa Monicans. Maybe they had come as people on Blind Date. Very disconcerting.

Still, the Space’s extravagant quarters (a warehouse by the port) had become even more so with the addition of a beautiful, torch-lit outdoor stage to complement the two inside. Jay Buchanan had a powerful following crowded inside, and his opening number—the theme from M*A*S*H; hooray, suicide!—was brilliant. Still, he’s starting to fall into droney self-indulgence to go with his cool-looking beard and scruffy ponytail. It might be time to perk it up a bit, but I’ve been known to be wrong. The Fullerton and Long Beach scenes are starting to cross-pollinate again, with Buchanan and Wonderlove making the trek frequently to hang with cats like Scott Devours (Oleander, at last count) and Chris Hanlin (The Dibs). Life is being breathed back in to both areas, which is good as Long Beach’s shelf life of cool had just about expired. There are only so many times you can see the same six people in the same 12 bands. Someone should start a band of Catalina terrorists to make music for the cops in tanks."

I can't wait...I can't wait!!!

I just got my tix last night. I only hope I don't have to go solo. I'm not sure if my friend Charlene will be off of work that night. With the holidays coming up , most people have wierd hours. Reguardless I will be there!!!! Has anyone seen the Raveonettes? I've only seen their video "Great Love Sound" (?) on FUSE-it's a cute song and video. They look like they will be fun to watch live. I hope I can get up front this time-I'll try and take lots of photos!!

I can't believe both bands are playing Fletchers. It's such a small club. They'll be playing upstairs, and downstairs they have a bar and pool tables. Well, if the bands and out-of-town fans get bored after the show there is lots to do around there. Plenty of clubs, bars and scenic things such as the waterfront.

You are so silly. I'll do my best to get a photo of her. She looks great in the video when she's in the red skirt suit with her hair pulled up. I hope the bands hang out a bit before the show so I can get some pics!

I know it's early and all, but what time do you think that they will put the Robot on? I want to make sure I get there early enough to catch them. My friend Charlene may have to work, so it may get us there a little later than 10pm. It's only Ima Robot and Raveonettes, right? No other openers? On the Fletchers website it says music starts at 9pm-let's hope they mean a DJ or something.

I would call the venue and see if there's a band on before the 'Bot. And maybe you'll have to meet Char there--they have a habit of going on earlier than expected.

I'll call next week because I'm sure they haven't a clue at Fletchers thus far.

Hopefully I can get there early! If I miss them and have only the Raveonettes to watch I will be so bummed! Well, there is a pool table there-or was a couple of years ago. Now you know how long it's been since I've been to Fletchers. I think the last band I saw there was the solo project from the male singer of X. It was kind of boring-and not many people there. But I still had a good time-actually it probably was 5 or 6 years ago-wow I'm getting old!

No More Snow!

No more snow!!

I just checked the Fletchers website and it said that there is an opener for Ima Robot called Val Yumm. I looked up their website and listened to some of their music to see what I'm in store for. They sound like Liz Phair or something. I don't think it's going to mesh well, but they'll probably go on at 9:30, so I'll miss them anyway. And it will give me more time to get down there to see Ima Robot!!!
